The Wag Club (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, how we look after it, and the rights you have. By joining the Wag Pack or using our website, you agree to this policy.
 

1. Who we are

• Responsible party: The Wag Club, a business operated by Prenisha Chetty. The Wag Club is not yet registered as a company and currently operates as a sole proprietor.

• Contact: woof@thewagclub.co.za. A postal address will be added once the business is registered.

2. What we collect

When you join the Wag Pack (our sign-up form), we may collect:

• Your name and email address

• Your dog’s name(s) and size(s)

• The treat brands your dog loves, and what you’d like to hear about from us

• Your province, and how you found us

• Your consent to be contacted
   

When you visit our website, we and our platform (Wix) may automatically collect device and browser information, your IP address, pages viewed and similar analytics, through cookies and similar technologies. We do not intentionally collect special personal information, or information about children under 18.
 

3. How we collect it

• Directly from you — through the sign-up form, emails and messages.

• Automatically — through cookies and analytics when you use the website.
   

4. Why we collect it

• To add you to the Wag Pack early-access list and send you news, product updates and the occasional survey.

• To plan our first product, the 25 Days of Wags advent calendar, around what dog people actually want.

• To understand our audience and improve what we offer.

• To answer your questions.
   

We only use your information for the purposes you would reasonably expect, or that we have told you about.
 

5. Our lawful basis

We process your information based on your consent (which you give when you sign up and tick the consent box) and our legitimate interest in running and growing a small business responsibly. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see section 9).
 

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, ever. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us operate, and only as far as needed:

• Google (Google Forms / Sheets) — to collect and store your sign-up.

• Wix — our website platform.

• Wix — we also use Wix's email and marketing tools to send you Wag Pack updates.
   

Some of these providers store information on servers outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected to a comparable standard, as POPIA requires.
 

7. How we protect it

We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your information secure and to prevent loss, misuse or unauthorised access. No online service can be completely secure, but we treat your information with care.
 

8. How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires. If you ask us to delete it, or you leave the Wag Pack, we remove it from our active lists.
 

9. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy.

• Ask us to correct or update it.

• Ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it.

• Withdraw your consent, or unsubscribe, at any time.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
 

10. Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; switching some off may affect how the site works.
 

11. Children

The Wag Club is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will remove it.
 

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it took effect.
